Service Dog Training

Structured Training for Real-World Independence

Our Service Dog Training program is designed for handlers who are working toward a reliable, task-capable service dog using science-based, reward-focused methods. We focus on developing the real-world skills needed for public access, task work, and confident handling in everyday life.

This program is delivered through structured 3 or 6 session packages, providing consistent progression and long-term support. A behaviour consultation is required before starting this program.

Who This Program Is For

This program is ideal for individuals who are:

  • Training a dog for psychiatric, mobility, or medical alert support work

  • Building or refining public access reliability

  • Developing task-based skills for daily assistance

  • Working with a service dog prospect or in-training dog

  • Seeking structured, professional guidance through the service dog process

What We Focus On

Training is tailored to each handler and dog, but commonly includes:

  • Public access skills and environmental neutrality

  • Calm, reliable behaviour in real-world settings

  • Loose leash walking under distraction

  • Focus, engagement, and handler connection

  • Impulse control and emotional regulation

  • Task foundations based on individual needs

  • Confidence building in new environments

  • Reliability in everyday public access situations

Public Access Training

A core component of this program is developing safe, reliable public access behaviour. Training takes place in real-world environments where dogs learn to remain calm, focused, and appropriate in the presence of distractions.

The goal is a dog that can confidently accompany their handler while maintaining consistent, reliable behaviour in public spaces.

Training Options

All training is delivered through structured packages following an initial Behaviour Consultation.

3-Session Package

Best for establishing core foundations, addressing priority behaviours, and beginning structured public access work.

6-Session Package

A more comprehensive program focused on developing consistent public access reliability, task foundations, and strong handler confidence in real-world environments.

Partial Virtual Support

To support consistency and accessibility, this program includes partial virtual options where appropriate.

Virtual sessions can be used for:

  • Handler coaching and education

  • Training review and adjustments

  • Troubleshooting challenges

  • Homework planning and skill breakdowns

In-person sessions are used for hands-on public access training and real-world skill development.

Our Approach

We use modern, evidence-based, reward-focused training methods to build dogs that are not only reliable in public, but also confident, stable, and clear in their role.

We also focus heavily on the handler’s skills—communication, timing, and consistency—so you and your dog function as a confident, working team.
